It can be dreams of any size. Maybe you long to be a stay at home mom. Or you’ve been called to preach, teach, sing, write a book, or start a non profit organization. For me, fear has played a major role in keeping me stagnant. Fear of failure, fear of other’s opinions, fear of flying, and fear of telling my story have all slowed the process of making my dreams a reality.

Dreams can change with time, but don’t let fear be the reason you stop going after your dreams. For instance, I used to always dream of becoming a famous singer. But now that I’m older, I’d much prefer becoming a speaker. I know I have a gift with singing though, so I do pray that the Lord will use me there too in His own way and timing.

I’ve been talking a lot about fear lately and I just can’t stop because every single day I experience more and more freedom from fear. I stand in amazement and awe of how God has transformed my life. I know that what He has done for me, He can do for you too! My heart goes out to those who deal with fear and anxiety since I was there for almost forty years.

For those who don’t know me in person, I want to share with you some differences in the old Amanda and the new Amanda.

This is the difference in a person living in fear and a person whom God has set free!

Paralyzed by fear from even the slightest chance of a thunderstorm. I would keep the TV on to constantly check the radar and see if there were updates on the local news station. As far as three days before the weather was expected to get bad, I found myself unable to function. I lost my appetite and had trouble sleeping. If there was a storm in the middle of the night, I would get zero sleep.

Stayed inside from spring until late fall, terrified to go outside because a wasp sting almost killed me on my 13th birthday. I wouldn’t dare crack a window while driving, in fear of a bee flying in and stinging me.

I missed an amazing, all-expense-paid vacation with my husband because I was terrified to fly and afraid to leave my boys for a week.

I never went very far without my husband. I didn’t even like taking a trip under two hours to see family without him because I was afraid that something might happen to me and I’d be alone.

Anxiety destroyed me! I ended up in the hospital on more than one occasion, only to realize later that I was having panic attacks.

I isolated myself and my children during cold and flu season, terrified that they would get sick.

Cares less about the chance of a storm. I found myself even enjoying it the other day. I’m amazed at the way the clouds change. Last week I woke up and heard thunder and went right back to sleep.

I’m outside all the time now! I’m actually sitting outside on my back deck while writing this. I also rolled every window down in the car while on a family vacation. Not only that, but I did it in an area that has way more bugs and bees than where I come from.

I took the trip of a lifetime to Jamaica with my husband. I’m no longer afraid to fly! It’s not my favorite thing in the world, but I won’t allow fear to be the reason for keeping me from going places anymore.

I drove eleven hours with just my boys and my aunt, to spend time with my parents.

I’ve been completely free of anxiety for almost two years!

I attended the very last church service before our governor shut everything down because of the Coronavirus. What a crazy time for God to free me from fear of sickness! I have lived my life as normally as possible through all of this because God has completely transformed me and I don’t have an ounce of fear. I will die when and how He has planned and there is nothing I can do to change that. *I do believe you can petition the Lord for more time on earth though and He may grant your request because He did that for Hezekiah in Isaiah, chapter 38.

I share my story because I know that if God can take someone who was as broken as me and put me back together as a totally different person, He can do it for anyone!

I honestly thought that I would always just be fearful. It’s all I’ve ever known. I had many experiences growing up that planted those roots of fear and let me tell you that once a seed develops roots, it’s a lot harder to destroy!

Tree with fear carved into it

What seeds have been planted in your life? Ask the Lord to destroy every negative seed that was sown on your behalf and to help you nourish the good seeds that were planted so that they will bring forth a full, fruitful harvest.

Once I started walking in a life of freedom, I began to get more and more clarity about my life. It’s as if I had been walking around with blind folds on. I couldn’t see life through God’s eyes because Satan had my eyes covered. Once that veil was removed, I knew that I had to make more changes myself. You see, the fear being taken away, that was mostly God. I did what I could, but He had to step in to complete the process. Now it’s time to step into my full potential!

Although I physically remain in the same home, I feel like I was transported from one world to another. And what’s really crazy is that millions of people most likely feel the same way, but with a negative aspect. This year has been far beyond what I ever imagined life would be like for our world, but while many have fallen victim to the spirit of fear and anxiety, I have found total freedom from it. Although things have shut down and people all around me are panicking, I’ve had this deep amount of peace that just can’t be described. Oh how I wish I could just speak it over your life and you could have the same peace that I do.

Today I want to share with you 3 ways to stop living in fear and start chasing your dreams!

With this newfound clarity, I can see the lies of Satan loud and clear. As I draw even closer to the Lord, more and more truth is revealed to my spirit. Friends, Satan is a liar! You know this! And just like he did with me, he’s trying to distract you from using your God-given gifts. He wants you to live in fear so that you can’t experience the fullness of the Lord. Satan also wants you to focus inwardly instead of putting yourself aside to help others. He has created a spirit of offense that is sweeping nations. It has even impacted the body of believers. How did he do it?

Every single issue that we are facing is a distraction from the enemy to keep you blind folded!

So the first key to stop living in fear and start chasing your dreams is to replace distraction with action!

Wake up! Get your Bible out every single day and start confessing truth over your life. Speak His Word. Don’t let the devil continue whispering those lies in your ear. You are a child of the Most High King! You are more than a conqueror through Christ. You were made for greatness!

Don’t let Satan make you believe that you are a nobody! He has tried those lines on me too, but I know Who my Daddy is. I know that I am a part of God’s plan to bring freedom to others. When Satan starts telling me that nobody cares, I tell him to shut up and flee in the Name of Jesus. Sometimes it takes me a little longer to shake off the self pity and doubt and realize that it was nothing but the enemy again, but thank God I do realize it eventually and remember to use the authority that Christ gave me.

Think about those dreams that God has put in your heart. What’s stopping you from chasing them with all that you have? Is fear stopping you from living your dreams? Are you waiting until your circumstances seem better? Sometimes it’s that first step of faith that you take that will begin to change your situation. Stop allowing Satan to distract you.

The second key to stop living in fear and start chasing your dreams is to focus on what the Word says!

Yes there’s a virus. What does the Word say?

Sadly, there is racism. What does the Bible say?

Hands interlocked

Yes there are protests and violence. What does the Word say?

When you begin to doubt your abilities, what does the Bible say?

Do you see where I’m going with this? For every fear or distraction that comes along and tries to stop you from living your dreams, there is a Word for you in the Bible that you need to stand on.

I could’ve used several different verses for each scenario because the Bible is just overflowing with solutions to every issue you face. It’s time to turn off all of the distractions and run to your Bible. All the answers are there for you!

Lastly, you need to surround yourself with supportive and encouraging people.

Find people who will pour gasoline on your dreams instead of water! If you know that certain people aren’t going to be supportive, then it’s time to place some healthy boundaries between you and them. The best book that I’ve read to help with relational boundaries is Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No To Take Control of Your Life. This is a book that you will find yourself re-reading for different situations.

When you become determined to stop living in fear and start chasing your dreams, you better believe that you will find resistance from people. Sometimes it comes from those who you thought would be right by your side through all situations in life. If you know what dreams God has planted in your life, don’t let anything or anyone hold you back.

Your greatest accountability in this life is to the Lord Himself. If He’s told you something to do and you aren’t doing it, that’s disobedience. So don’t let anyone talk you out of what you know you are meant to do.

Even a delayed response is still disobedience, so get going! Start chasing your dreams TODAY! No more excuses! I would love to hear what your dreams are and provide more encouragement to you. Please check out my Facebook page for daily inspiration.

Be blessed my friends!

I have problems with anxiety and depression – finding a closer relationship with God has been so very helpful. And I am consistently trying to surround myself with people who are supportive but who will also push me when I need it.

I tend to worry and although it usually doesn’t evolve into full-blown fear, I do recognize how paralyzing this can be. I don’t want to live my days like that. Good thoughts!

Lord I thank You that Kat found this post helpful. I pray that You will break every bondage of fear, worry, anxiety, and everything associated with it, off of her life. Pour out Your peace upon her and bless her as she chases the dreams you’ve put in her heart. In Jesus Name, Amen
